Beech Crow quill

What started as a lovely piece of spalted Beech turn out a bit dissapointing when shaped to size, all the marks, lines and features of the original wood all but dissapeared leaving only a single black line running through it.
This happens now and then, you just cant tell how wood will look till its finished.
The float is 16cm long with a thin avon style body with a Crow quill running through it.

The base is a Yew log, finished with felt underneath.
